Culture and Return

The Culture and Return service is available for researchers who wish to have a "bank" of vials produced at repository grade from their cell line but do not wish to deposit the cell line for distribution.
We will culture the cell line using our standard operating procedures, generating a master bank and working bank, and then return those vials to the requesting laboratory for storage or culture.  The service is suitable for laboratories requiring clear adherence to good cell culture practice, or for laboratories who do not have this expertise and would prefer to have someone else expand their cell line for storage.

Included in this service:

  • Generation of a master bank, usually 10 vials, after characterisation and quality control testing
  • Generation of a working bank, usually 25 vials, from a single vial of the master bank
  • Sterility testing of both banks
  • Mycoplasma testing of both banks
  • Viability testing of vials from both banks to confirm that vials can be thawed successfully
  • Identification testing is not included as a routine test but can be requested by the researcher.
Cell lines are grown at research grade only.  The price for the service varies with the reagents and time required; you will need to contact us to request a quote specific to your cell line.  Once incubator space is available, the service takes approximately two months to complete.
