Importation and Exportation

CellBank Australia is not responsible for obtaining permits or permission for importation of requested cell lines outside of Australia. It is the responsibility of the customer to comply with their local importation laws and to determine if an importation permit or permission is required.

Importation of Cell Lines into Australia

HPA/ECACC cell lines available through CellBank Australia have been imported under a permit to import quarantine material issued by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS).   Australian requests (to CellBank Australia) for these cell lines will therefore require no importation documentation. A limited number of the HPA/ECACC cell lines are derived from species covered by CITES and require a permit.

Sending Cell Lines or Samples to CellBank Australia

All international shipments of cell lines to CellBank Australia must have a copy of the CellBank Australia and Children's Medical Research Institute AQIS permit. Click here to download a copy of the current AQIS permit

Domestic (Australian) Shipping

Customers within Australia can expect delivery of stocked cell lines within 1-2 working days. All cells are shipped on dry ice, with interstate shipments boxed and shipped according to The International Air Transport Association (IATA) dangerous goods regulations. As per the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), staff at CellBank Australia have been trained and CASA certified to pack and dispatch dangerous goods both domestic and international.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) distributes CellBank Australia cell lines globally (except for Australia and New Zealand). Please contact the HPA to discuss ordering, delivery and customs requirements.
