Description
Description: From parental strain L which was derived from normal subcutaneous areolar and adipose tissue of 100 day old male C3H/An. Used in development of replicate culture techniques, chemically defined media, fluid suspension culture methods and virus assays. Susceptible to pseudorabies virus and vesicular stomatitis (Indiana strain) virus.

Growth Medium: EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculturing Procedure: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3×10, 000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Freeze in 10% glycerol/90% FBS. After resuscitation cells may take up to 4 days to establish growth.
